Elise sport 190 Vs. Skyline R34 GT-R
My friend and I got in an argument who would win on the track. What do yall think? The R34 GT-R or an Elise Sport 190?
I say the R34, but hey, yall know me and my baby. lol

Re: Elise sport 190 Vs. Skyline R34 GT-R
Depends part on the course...if it's tight...then the Elise might have the advantage where power is not such a big deal...but if it's wide open and lil turns...then the R34 would just walk away...

I think the Elise would definately take the R34 in any coarse that requires a stronger ability in negotiating turns. I do know that the elise 190 can run high 13's in the quarter, and it wouldn't do to bad against the skyline in the straights as long as they aren't really long.
But when you look at the Elise, its hard to take other cars seriously.......i mean really, your driving a go-cart basically. The Elise 190 is smaller than a miata for crying out loud. |

if its the elise thats coming to america. then the elise will mop the floor with the skyline. that elise can run a 12 flat on the 1/4 and handles l like a go kart and has crazy transitional handling. even though the skyline is very sharp in the corners. but that kind of tech can't make up for a 1700 lb penalty

Re: Elise sport 190 Vs. Skyline R34 GT-R
Yeah, but the 4WS makes up for alot of that and there's no way it can beat a Z06 on the 1/4 stock!

why not? it weights 1300 lbs less, its also geared better. the Z06 is geared more for high speed. you can tell the elise is geared for quick aceleration at all the lower speed. this is why the top speed on the vette is close to 180mph when the top speed on the elise is barely in the 140's. the reason is not becusae it lacked power, but its becasue it limited by the short ass gearing and redline. and 4WS does help alot but you gotta remember, the basic rule of handling and performance is this, the lighter the car is, the better it will turn, brake, acelerate etc etc. you can make up for some of the weight penalty can be offset by power, gripper tires, and stiffer suspension. but a lighter sport car is more pure, requires less of anything and is more efficient. tires wear out slower, car acts less clumbsy etc etc. trust me i love the R34 GT-R. i'm a die hard nissan fan, i would never own anything else, but you can't be biased like that. if the car is faster then its faster. simple as that. a skyline is not unbeatable. but i still love it and it is still my dream car.

skyline vs. Lotus
hmmmm, tough one> I think the only fair way to find out is to give me both cars and have me try them out? Sound like a good idea to anyone else?

I have seen the 12.0 quarter time for the elise coming to america, but i'm not buying that for a second until i actually see one do it. It is very very light, and when you consider the previous elise 190s doing high 13s, it makes me very sceptical to wonder if maybe that was a goof in the print. I guess we will find out when it comes out.

Re: Elise sport 190 Vs. Skyline R34 GT-R
Elise 190- in all it's K-series glory- would have no problem taking the GTR on any track- unless there was enough long straights for the R34 to catch it up on- light, nimble and blindingly quick sums up the Elise

the old elise ran high 13's with a old rover 120hp engine. now imagine what i can do with over 50% more power and a 6 speed with shorter gear ratios. which is exactly what the u.s. spec elise is goin to have. a 190hp with 6 speed.

Re: Elise sport 190 Vs. Skyline R34 GT-R
tHIS IS A VERY UN-FAIR COMPARISON.0-60mph the baby lotus will give the SKYLINE alot of trouble but after that SKYLINE TAKES OVER.BUT IF YOU HAVE $$$$$ SOME CHING YOU CAN UP GRADE YOUR ENGINE (ESTHI 2.4). This give the capablties of over 350bhp. This upgrade also includes A V-TEC conversion (HONDA) an AUDI RS4 and still keep a light weight of about 990kg.Top speed >> 305kph (190mph) 0-60mph 3.6sec.
