1967 Mustang Convertible 54k Miles Questions
Hi, I recently acquired a 67 Mustang Convertible with the 289 2 BBL Auto. It was my fathers and always garage kept. It has 54k on the odometer. To my knowledge the car is 100% original (my dad did not 'upgrade' or even replace parts). It was repainted factory color around 1975 for reasons unknown, but NOT due to any damage or accident.
My basic question is how I should service this car to keep it's 'value' at the highest. Simple point, the rear springs are shot and the rear is sagging. Am I going to hurt the cars value by installing new Scott Drake leaf springs, shackles, and KYB shocks? Or should I search for ALL factory NOS parts? That is just an example. The exhaust system is 'close' to being needed. It drives ok, but is really 'loose' so I'm thinking that there are rubber bushings in the front end suspension that are shot, etc. What can I replace with modern components that will not extremely affect it's value? Thanks for any comments. |

Re: 1967 Mustang Convertible 54k Miles Questions
Resto-mods appear to get very similar money at auction to original cars. If you had less than 8,000 miles and original paint then it would help the value more to stay original. Most of the people that get these cars want them upgraded with modern brakes and suspension for safety reasons. If you have the storage space, I would keep everything you take off in case tastes change in the future. Having those parts might boost the price with someone that really wants them
