Christain, I am going to be critical (only because you have asked), but first, I must say you have done an absolutely superb job on this and you should be very proud of it!

I do have one gripe and that's about the rear side windows, but only because I have a hangup about them (Tamiya never got the shape of their 1/12 934/935 correct either! ;-)

I appreciate you reshaped them and they are a lot better, but the rain gutter should follow their shape more accurately. It only stands out on the lower angle photos - the second photo taken from the back, the gutter has a small kink and in the fifth photo, it's too far away from the aperture (just behind the back of the door). I also think that the lower edge of the aperture bulges out slightly to much, but this may be due to the extended arches.

I've based all this on distant Capri memories, so maybe I should go back and look at some photos of them again...LOL!

You are right.The rain gutter needs to be at the rounds of the windows.
That is one thing i need to remake.

some more progress.
I have done the tyre/rim combination.








Next will be a look at the mirrors and than my sillicon mould making premiere.

The raingutter will be changed and some other little stuff.The different sizes of the rear hood are not so big as seen on the pic.It´s about 0,5mm difference.Thats ok for me.

Very nice job!

Making the tyres fit the rims so well is not an easy task in itself. Did you lathe the tyres from resin blocks? Resin machines so nicely, but I guess you've discovered that already!

Hi,

i made the tyers the old fashion way.
I used a stationary grinding machine and a circle for the diameter.
I made a half tyre and a mould for the resin.You can see it on page 5 i think?

The rims are made from different tamiya rims.
The front rim is from the porsche 934,but with resin slicks from me.
The rear rims are parts from the porsche 935 with the bbs inlet from the porsche 934.

Hi,
i made my first sillicon mould.I´m happy with it.It gone be ok for the first one.



One small airbubble is in it,but that dosent matters.
I only think that my sillicon is not enough for the rear tyre,the rear wing and the hole body.
I need to buy more of this stuff.

how did you get the silicon to get the wheel mesh details? did you brush it on or thin it?

Hi,
it was very easy.
I simply used a brush and some sillicon.
After that i quickly put the rest of the sillicon into the mould.
Thats all!

Hello,

after 10 days vacation in lanzarote/spain,i´m back in buisness.

I tested my sillikon moulds that i made before my holidays with resin now.

Rear tyre with rims:

and the main body mould was modified so i need not so much sillicon.


Now i wait for my 3kg sillicon that i need.

You never mention those frames for your moulds, but they look amazing and seem to be the way to go! I like the way they support the silicon and the good registration from the metal pins.

Are the frames made from Rennshape, mdf, or something else? I can only assume that you have access to a furniture making workshop, or you have some really good woodworking tools at home (eg. a disc table sander!). How do you glue your frames together?

Also, what do you think of the green silicone you're using and do you know what hardness (duro number) it is?

Oh, I have a tip for not using too much silicone by filling the empty spaces with polystyrene packaging beans - not tried it myself yet though!

i see that you have used pins to ensure the mould stays in 'register', if you use plasticine to mount your component in to make a two part mould. you can make as many mould dowels by indenting the platicine with a taperd pin or a pencil. when you have made the first half, remove the plasticine you will then have your pin holes there. pour the top half as before. its on you tube under '2 part silicon mold'. please forgive me if you already know about this.

The material i used for the frames is some sort of renshape.
We need it at work and i used the waste material that is too small for the work.
And i also got access to a lot of machines for sanding and cutting stuff.

The green silicon was my first experience with that material,but it work very well.
I bought it from http://www.trollfactory.de/TFC-Silik...11-NV-2kg.html in Germany.

It got a shore hardness from 35 after 24 hours.
I think it could get a bit harder,but i dont find a silicon thats cheap enough at this range.

I seen this video at you-tube before,and my first mold was made like this.


The problem is the correct shape after the resin is put in it.The mold is so soft that you easily can deform it.I need a lot of putty and sanding work to bring it in the correct shape back again.
So i searched for other methods.

Your English is perfectly understandable, & that's a great idea with the frames for the moulds! I found the same problem when using unsupported moulds for wheels & tyres - they just don't come out round! I use simple boxes of foamboard to support my moulds now, but I think your frames must work even better. And they look great!!
