2004 GP GT Temp running high

hello it's me again 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
My temperature gauge has been moving over the half way point never over heat but it normally would stay at the 1/4 mark...... So we changed out the thermostat, that didn't seem to help that much......what else could it be.....

Re: 2004 GP GT Temp running high

Have you replaced your LIM gaskets? also could be an inefficient water pump. check your high and low cooling fan operation.

Re: 2004 GP GT Temp running high

I think if may be my low fan....because once it goes above the half way mark I hear the kick on. Also I have no leaks I park my car in my driveway and nothing is ever under it.......

You know, if your vehicle is not moving, but is running, it's going to heat up. The gauge will go up until it reaches the temperature where the computer says, "Ok, time to cool her off" and turns on your cooling fans. If you're cruising down a road and you have airflow, the temperature will never get above it's normal operating temperature, which is probably the 1/4 mark. I would say if the fans eventually turn on, and it cools down all by itself and the fans turn off again, you're good. The only questions is, at what temperature is this being done.
