Clutch Release Hub and Bearing

Removal
  1. Remove the transaxle. Refer to Section 07-03 for the removal procedure.
  1. Remove the clutch release fork bolt.

  1. Remove the clutch release hub and bearing (7548).

Installation
  1. Apply a light film of Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C, XG-1-K, or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B on the following areas:
    • The sliding surface on the transaxle bearing support
    • The clutch release fork (7N515) where it contacts the clutch release hub and bearing.
    • The front of the clutch release hub and bearing where the clutch pressure plate release spring contacts
  1. CAUTION: Fill only the groove and remove all excess grease from the clutch release hub and bearing. If excess grease remains in the clutch release hub and bearing, it can be forced onto the clutch disc splines where it may contaminate the clutch disc friction surfaces.
Fill the groove in the clutch release hub and bearing with Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C, XG-1-K, or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B. Also, apply a light film of lubricant on the clutch release fork contact area. The lubricant areas are shown in the illustration below.

  1. Install the clutch release hub and bearing.
  1. Install the clutch release fork bolt. Tighten the clutch release fork bolt to 35-41 Nm (26-30 lb-ft).

  1. Install the transaxle. Refer to Section 07-03 for the installation procedure.
Hope this helps
