Re: 2001 ram 1500 transmission not shifting
to be honest with you if you've got a 2001 with 84k miles on it with a first tranny its about to go :P though I may be wrong so I'd try with some little things that it could be since these obviously cost a lot less. my dads 2001 2500 did exactly what you described right before the transmission went out. good luck

Re: 2001 ram 1500 transmission not shifting
stock valve body has "issues" stacked shifts,,lazy shifts,,,shuttle shifts,,,can't figure what gear it wants to be in.......removing the solenoid and "blowing it out " sometimes will cure the problem,,,clean and replace magnet also !!!!! Superior brand shift kit really cleans up shifts for this unit

Re: 2001 ram 1500 transmission not shifting
Thanks for the HELP. Thanks you guys for your input. I used the information here to repair my 2001 dodge ram 1500 pick up transmission.
One morning, my wife called and said It won't shift out of first gear. I first did the out put shaft speed sensor because it was easy and cheap. That did not help. Next I switched computers, (mine had issues with P601 code). No help. I then replaced the govenor switch, and the shift solenoid as I saw was common fail parts. Changed the fluid while in there and filter. Added a pint of lucas transmission "stuff". And wha La. Shifts great, no problems since. |
