No, I don't want this to be a comic. I'm hoping to get all three parts published as an anthology.

From there, I'd really like for it to become a live-action movie. I purposely kept things pretty simple so that a movie budget could be pretty low. Very few of the cars, for example, have any appearance mods. In the first part, there's only one car with significant bodywork.

There aren't a ton of big stunts, either. There is a lot of drving required, however. That way, the movie company would only need one or two(as opposed to several) of each car. Even then, the cars would pretty much need an identical color and wheels, and that's it.

I hate to bring this back up again, but I wanted to let folks know that I am finished with the first and second parts now.

What took so long was that I got some crits about the narrative elements in a writer's forum, so I fixed it in both parts. I changed one minor character, progressively giving him a greater role in the whole trilogy. I also changed the intro of the second story, making it an actual race.

If anyone wants to read it, post your email or send me a PM.

Now I have to get started on the third part. It'll be hard, because I haven't spent a lot of time developing it yet. I still have to come up with a few character names, race routes(using real roads), and some other stuff.

You could do it TXR:0 style, call the Porsches like, Zodiac, name them all funky names "Lightening Buddha" (that was me ) or stuff...

I don't know much about that game. The last console I had was an SNES, and I sold it back in '96. I guess I can ask my friend. I kinda wanted a name that was associated with Porsche, but nothing comes to mind.

TXR:0 has a Porsche wannabe, but they dont have license to any of the cars, EA has all rights to Porsche, so companies go to aftermarket tuners suck as Gemballa or RUF for cars...Need For Speed I guess will be your only choice... (POS GAME!!!)

This story is like Initial D in the sense that I go into detail on car characteristics and driving technique. It's a bit like TF&TF too, because...um, it's based in the US. I also include a lot of humor, and a bit of drama and decent romance, too.

I thought about adding a Ferrari or two, but I was worried that it would seem a bit unrealistic if one of them lost. I guess maybe a F355 wouldn't hurt...of course that would be just like the one in TF&TF.

I really like the story so far but im like confused as to whats going on now and why do they keep on getting new cars?(example Darren lude, Vr4, GTI, S4) Also I liked the race with the RX7 better than the lighting. I mean come on your telling me he had a problem beating a truck, but creamed a SS? All and all good though I cant stop reading

Oh one more thing I think scotts relationship with Darren in the story is a little werried. I think you should make them more rival than friends and heres why, if scott has been Darrens friend wouldnt he already know Darrens a poser? And for the future you should think about having scott make his own team.

The reason characters kept getting new cars was because I couldn't make up my mind! I've been brainstorming since June of '02, and this thread is almost a year old, too.

However, Darren and Scott switch cars a lot. They both go from fwd, to rwd and awd as the story progresses. Notice that in each category, Darren always gets something that is a bit of a lame duck, compared to others in the genre. Of course, Darren makes his cars even worse than stock. The CRX could probably have beaten any of his cars.

Darren: Prelude, IS300, S4
Scott: CRX, 240SX, Evo VII RS

The reason I took out the RX-7 was that I realized it was the only import opponent in the entire story. I began thinking that having all domestic opponents would strengthen the import vs. domestic theme I wanted. I came up with the Lightning because originally, for the last race, I wanted a fast truck like a Dakota R/T. I realized it wasn't fast enough, and decided to go big. That meant either a Lightning or a Syclone/Typhoon, and I needed more Fords, so I went with the Lightning. I also thought it'd be funny to have Darren lose to a truck, which he thought was unpossible. There's a car in the last race now, and it's an '03 Cobra.

As for Scott's relationship with Darren, you might notice that they aren't all that close. They're more like acquaintances. Scott figured that since Darren brags about being fast, that maybe he really is, and knows a lot of stuff.
Scott's best friend and closest rival ends up being Kenneth. Scott does kind of make up his own informal team. It's more like just the people he spends the most time with. They don't even have a team name or anything.

Oh yeah, you've got mail.

Re: Street racing story, kinda like Ini-D...

You really need to spend your free time on something else its already a little unrealistic, and you can tell the Initial D influence, why not try and think of your own ideas? (not in a bad way, i just mean something more original)

The Ram SRT 10 isn't out yet. The concept wasn't even around when I first started planning this. Besides, Frank's gen 2 Lightning has FI, and an established aftermarket.

Hey, now. You haven't read any versions of the stories, so you don't know how realistic/unrealistic it is, or what ID influences are there. If you're looking at the nearly 1 year old posts in the thread, rest assured that most influences are gone. All my trilogy really has in common with ID now is racing on country roads at night. Besides, it's a bit hard to just stop it. I've been doing work on it since July of 2002.
