Re: AMC owners?
Well, for what it's worth, went through the same ordeal yesterday after not starting the car for bit. Poured a little in, it started, ran off what was poured in, dies. Nothing from pump. So, pulled the feed line and got a nice little dousing of 87 octane and debris, viola, starts right up, and spent the rest of the day at my garage sale answering peoples questions as to what kind of aftershave I use
Even worse, right after it started, put in reverse, start to drop the clutch in, the hinge pin on the lincage breaks All in a fun day. |

Re: AMC owners?
I need your help again, concerning the 83 spirit with the 258 w/automatic trans. On Ebay they are selling chrome valve covers for the 258 but the year range they are showing is from 64-80 short and baffled. Does anyone know for sure if this will fit the 83.
Please response the bidding is ending in a few day thanx again |

Re: AMC owners?
I have an 87' Eagle wagon, so far only mods are HEI ignition, 8mm wires, and 2'' exhaust with no cat and a glasspack. Oh yeah and I think fixing all the vacuum leaks counts as a mod because it runs 200% better now, had about 5-6 open hoses....you know it's bad when the idle screw is all the way out and it's still idling at 1000 RPM! Soon a holley 350 2 bbl is going on to replace the crappy carter that only flows 200 CFM.

Re: AMC owners?
I have a 68 AMX, have had it since 72. It is currently in storage waiting for my son to restore it. Doesn't need much - some body damage from storage, reseal the engine, tires and whatever else being stored for 22 years has brought.
It is the earliest AMX I have ever come across - has a very low three digit series number on the dash (so early the dash number plaque is on the glove box - where the were too easy to steal - very soon after they were moved to the center of the dash to make it harder). It also had loop carpet rather than the cut pile in the later 68's. It has the 390 go package 4sp and no other factory options. Has the dealer option am radio, dealer chrome "rally" wheels, and that is it. It has some history - was purchased new by a kid who did not make it home from Viet Nam, purchased by his best friend who drove it about two years and sold it to me. I have told my son he cannot have it 'til he is done being deployed to war zones by the Marines. |
