S-type too cheap, why?
hi
im thinkin of gettin a used Jag s-type 3.0 yr 00 or 01 and was surprised when i looked at the prices - most of them were around $20000 canadian only, equivalent to US$15000! why is it so cheap? are there any problems with s-types? Or is it because the Ford company bought this Jag company and so on? and lastly..is this car reliable enough? (3~4yrs old) |

Re: S-type too cheap, why?
I have had a 2002 X-type which was perfectly wonderful and now have a 2005 S-Type which I love.
I have seen many late model Jaguar S-types that look like they have been trashed by their drivers. I think the problem comes when people lease these cars with no intention of taking good care of them. They refuse to clean them or even treat the leather interior. Then, in 4 or 5 years the cars look miserable. It's a dirty donwright shame. You'll find perfect S-types for $27,000 US and you'll see the difference why some are $15,000 and others are more. Those people should not be allowed to drive such a fine car if they can't take any better care of it than an old Pinto. Grrrr..... |

Re: S-type too cheap, why?
I just bought a 2000 S Type 3.0 yesterday for $16,000 USD. Its black on black, beautiful body, beautiful interior. The only thing is that it had 89K miles. Im very happy with the car. I have 30 days to find anything at all wrong with the vehicle, and it will be fixed for free. So IF there is anything wrong with it, it won't be for long. It just seems thats about the going rate for them.

The 2000-2002 S-Type Jags have a poor service record, that is the reason for the low resale. In 2003 Jag did a complete remake and the newer S-Types have excellent service records.
Jag has gone from near the bottom to tied for 1st with JD Powers in the past 3 years, the newer cars are much improved. |

Re: S-type too cheap, why?
Yeah, my Jag is a lemon too. Big surprise. I wish I never bought it.
