Re: Anyone interested in Dirt track racing?
Went to my first dirt track race this weekend, BellClaire 1/5 of a mile in Bellville, IL. Midget and sprint cars. I was hesitant at first, but my girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend (thats a lot of friends) is the son of the track Chaplain, so he got us in for free. I gotta say, I had a blast, and those little cars fucking move. I had a great time, even though I'm still chewin on dirt...
I also got to meet and hang out with the Cheif of Scoring for the midwest section of the SCCA...that guy has seen some shit.

Re: Anyone interested in Dirt track racing?
I've just been to my first dirt track, Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY. Nice 1/4 mile track. I saw more bikes then cars though, I have to stay longer next time to see modifieds, maybe late models, but there's some crazy roundabouts to get back on the highway so, I fear leaving at night.

Re: Anyone interested in Dirt track racing?
Dirt track racing is a type of auto racing performed on oval tracks. It began in the United States before World War I and became widespread during the 1920s and 30s. Two different types of racecars predominated—open wheel racers in the Northeast and West and stock cars in the South. While open wheel racecars are purpose-built racing vehicles, stock cars (also known as fendered cars) can be either purpose-built racecars or street vehicles that have been modified to varying degrees.
