Dead Metro -- Need Help Troubleshooting!
Hello all,
I was driving to work the other day, going up a hill and right as I crested the hill my little black bomber Metro died on me. The car just stopped running, although all of the accessories (stereo, lights, etc all stayed on). I had it towed to my work (which was thankfully fairly close and a place that I can work on the car) and took a look at it. I had plenty of oil, did a compression check and everything is okay there. I checked to see if I was getting spark from the coil, and there was none. Thinking it might be a quick fix, I replaced the coil -- but still no spark. I checked the fuses that I could see in the engine compartment, and in the fuse block underneath the dash and couldn't find any that had blown. It seems definitely like some sort of electrical/ignition problem, but I'm not sure where to look next. I didn't notice any kind of ozone smoky smell that might indicate a melted wire, but haven't looked very closely at the wiring harness--I'm hoping that somebody might have experienced some kind of a similar problem and could maybe point me in the right direction. Help! |
