2003 CRV SRS light comes on occasionally
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The SRS light has come on 2 times now...for the entire 45 mile half of my commute, and the mechanics can't say why because it doesn't come on for them. I drive the exact same way everyday, and the best they can say is.."well the bags will not go off if the light is on, and without us seeing the light on, there is nothing we can do"! This is no help at all!!! Can someone please help. This is the only problem I have had with this car for the entire 70,000 miles I have put on it since purchasing brand new. Thanks |

Did they hook up the code reader to see if it put off a trouble code?

Yeah they did, but they found no error codes.

Thats a hard one to find if it wont show up. If it comes on again see if you can get right to the dealer with out shutting it off and have them check it.

Re: 2003 CRV SRS light comes on occasionally
I have a 2002 CRV and mine comes on every time I hit a sharp bump. I am wondering if it is the side curtain air bag sensors as they have lean sensors on the doors, maybe the sensors are a little to sensitive and activate for a split second when you hit a bump.

02 Cr-v doesn't have side curtain airbags.

Re: 2003 CRV SRS light comes on occasionally
Sorry, I ment Side Air Bags, they are incorporated in the two front seat. They are standard on the 2002 Honda CRV EX model. There are lean sensors built into the upper door panel so that if you lean or set your elbow on the door a warning light is displayed on the dash and the side bags are deactivated. The bags are reactivated as soon as you remove your arm. Bags are stored in the outer edge of the front seat-backs.
See page 56 of your 2002 Honda CRV owners manual. I thought I had made a mistake in the year because I have 4 vehicles that are 2000+ vintage and thought I mixed up the years. So, I pulled the owners manual to check the proper description of what is installed and they are called Side Air Bags. 2000 Lincoln LS V8 sport 2002 Honda CR-V EX 2003 Cheverolet Astro AWD, Best all around of the bunch, Tows 6000lbs, holds 8, turns on a dime and is a tank in the snow 2005 Ford F350 diesel 4wd Terry |
