Code: P0301

If anyone is familiar with this code please let me know. My 2006 Pilot "check engine" light came on with the VTC-4 just above. My code reader listed this code as: Cylinder 1 misfire. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Code: P0301

Was the check engine light flashing when it was on? If the light continues to come on I would tend to think it's a bad coil. We have replaced many coils on Honda V6's. If the light does come back, reset it and switch #1 coil with another cylinder and see if the misfire moves to whatever cylinder you moved the old #1 coil to.

How many miles on your Pilot?

Re: Code: P0301

Thx for the reply. Milage is between 70k and 75k. The check engine light will flash (with no patern), turn off, or turn on solid, then flash, the go solid, then turn off.

The VTM-4 light, the dealer claims is a 4 wheel drive issue. As that is still under warranty, we told them to fix it (warranty expires Dec 8th - in 7 days).

They also said that the ignition coil needs to be replaced along with the spark plugs.

Are the ignition coils easily accessable? The Pilot is new to me - purchased for my wife to drive.

Re: Code: P0301

The coils are fairly easy to get at/replace. The engine cover needs to come off then each coil is held on by one allen bolt. Getting one rear one out can be a pain due to the heater hoses. The plugs should be good for 105,000 miles. If one coil was misfiring I would definitely replace that plug and since it's close enough to 105K why not just do them all.

Re: Code: P0301

All plugs replaced, Cyl 1 coil replaced. No misfire code yet..... The VTM-4 problem was taken care of by the dealer (under warrenty). They replaced the rack & Pinion (which fixed the leaking power steering). All seems good so far. Thanks for everyones help!!!!

Re: Code: P0301

Why was the rack replaced?

What was the issue with the VTM light?
