96 sunfire GT code P1887 . TCC circuit . Any ideas on what the cause is and location of clutch solenoid .

These solenoids do wear out and will cause the torque convertor to lock up and not release. The code you are seeing is due to this solenoid. There is a plug on top of the transmission that you can unplug that will stop the convertor from locking until you can get yours replaced. The solenoid is located inside the transmission and if you get a service manual for the trans in your car it will show you exactly how to change it. I changed one in a 1988 Cadillac Cimmaron that was located inside the trans cover behind the front wheel. Took about an hour to change. Hope this helps.
