Any WEBSITES to find what wheels/Rims fit what Vehicles ?
I know I can go ask some wrecking yard guy with a computer if he has Wheels/Rims to fit my vehicle....
I know some New Tire Store can probably tell me..... BUT - why can't I find out myself which vehicles wheel/rims fit some other vehicle.? There must be some nice web site with wheel/rim crossover data on the Internet. When a Vehicle is designed, do they have special wheels/rims made or do they slap on some stock wheel that can be ordered? Where do they get such information? For Example: Which other vehicle's Wheels fit another vehicle. Many can be interchanged from one make/model to another make/model. That data just has to be published or compiled somewhere! I just can't find it...googling gets me tons of crap! Maybe I'm using the wrong jargon.... Does anyone know where I can get such info free - w/o begging others to provide it ? Where do wrecking yards and tire shops get this info from? DoctorBill Geo Metro Forum Contributor & Moderator.

Do a google search for wheel bolt pattern, here's one of the sites that came up and alot more beyond it.

Unfortunately, bolt pattern is only part of the picture. There's also offset (or backspacing), the center hub diameter, as well as clearance around the bake caliper.
No, vehicle manufacturers specify all the parameters above and that results in rims that fit only their vehicles - and these are not off the shelf items. So unless you have access to an interchange book, you won't find this info. The books have to be purchased - after all how is the guy who did all this work going to be rewarded fo his efforts? However, many aftermarket rim manufacturers will design their rims to fit a variety of vehicles. They do this by double drilling the bolt holes and oversizing the center hub, then they use a hub ring to get a good it to the center hub. |
