What particular genre of music are all of you interested in?

What particular genre of music are all of you interested in? I like fusion jazz, acid jazz, hard bop jazz, bossa nova jazz, and avante garde jazz. Along with motown, classic rock, soul, disco, and that is basically it.

um... folk? I think that's what Great Big Sea is. Listening to them is like breathing to me. It's weird and if you don't know who they are, check them out, if you're into Newfie folk music.

I like a bit of everything, except country. I have almost anything from Britney Spears to Rob Zombie. Alex, my fiance, likes his music on the harder side...everything from Korn to Norwegian death metal.

i like what's called "Screamo" or "Emo-core". it's basically harder edged emo. emo would be softy, cry-baby stuff like Dashboard Confessional's "Places That You've Come To Fear The Most" CD. while it's a good disc, it's a bit too boo-hoo and i can only listen to it at certain times, when i want to mellow out.

the stuff i like sends the same message, but is done with great guitar riffs and soaring vocals instead of an acoustic guitar.

some examples would be My Chemical Romance, A Static Lullaby, Hopesfall, Matchbook Romance, Thrice, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Brand New, Coheed And Cambria, Finch, and many others.

that's my favourite genre, but i'm a conneseur of anything that sounds good. i can dig some classical if i'm in the mood for it, or jam to some Jazz and Blues once in a while. and i DEFINITLEY like the stuff my dad listens too, like Rush, AC/DC, Zeppelin etc. older rock is awesome too.

the only 3 genres of music that i really DON'T like are:

a) Pop. Britney Spears, N'Stink, The Backdoor Boys etc. i hate it all, and that now includes Simple Plan and Good Charlotte. while i used to like these bands, it's clear that their current labels are marketing them as "boybands behind guitars" in order to try and turn punk into the next teenage craze.

b) Country. self explanitory.

c) Super duper death metal. IE> Slipknot, Rammstein, Korn, Coal Chamber and all of that. can't stand it. on a lesser level, i include SOAD, Tool and bands like that.

i also don't like pop-rock. in that genre i include Nickelback and a couple of other bands along the same lines. you know that a band has sold out when you hear their "ROCK" songs played on your local dance music station, like i did today.

i also can't stand MOST rap. there's some that i like. mostly underground, unknown stuff. i can't STAND the "look at me for my money and my hoes and my bling bling" shit that exemplifies the rap of today. most of them have good beats. like i said to my friend the other day, if all popular rap were instrumental (no vocals), i wouldn't mind.

Linkin Park isn't punk, it's metal. and Poison The Well isn't metal, it's Screamo (a form of punk). get your shit straight, dude.

btw, there's another band i hate. Sum 41. sell-outs.

I think linkin park is more punk then metal because they dont pack enough punch to be metal... Its alot more techno-ey.. And im sorry i didnt know there was such a genre called screamo..

Sum 41.. i used to hate all their stuff.. but now they just keep getting better. I dont actually like them.. but the music rocks.

Lately a few rappers have begun to appeal to me- 50 Cent and Eminem are two who I've found pretty good

The Brit-rock band Feeder (Most are familiar with these guys stuff on GT3) are a favourite, Audioslave, Linkin Park, Sash!, Pacifier, Filter, U2 and Coldplay also notch up a mention- so it's Metal, Rock or TEchno I guess
