Wet Tyres

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of making a bike with wet tyres that is either Fortuna Yamaha 2004 or LCR Honda 2006. But I'm not sure if the version made by Model Factory Hiro is suitable for both kits or not.

for 2004 they are ok, 2006 had different pattern

I see, thanks. I haven't used parts by Model Factory Hiro yet but do these tyres by them fit well for Tamiya kits?

I haven't tried but I have their Yoshimura kit and those fit Tamiya wheels, so I don't see any problem with fit.

Thanks for the info again. There's one thing that I've overlooked when I was looking at Sandro's work along with Geronimo's work, I noticed that the front brake discs are completely different compare to the original Tamiya brake discs part as there are holes on the front brake discs on the rain settings. The type of brake disc used during the wet race & dry race are not the same, are they? If they are so, where can I get the parts for the wet race specs?

Adrian - the MFH wet tyres are "Bridgestone" brand design - the Geronimo Works wet tyres are "Michelin" brand design. Yamaha and Honda did not use Bridgestone until 2008 - after Casey Stoner won the MotoGP Championship in 2007 on Bridgestones. So to be accurate you should use the Geronimo tyres. The MFH tyres will fit the Tamiya wheels without modification, while the Geronimo tyres require that you grind off the "rib" on the Tamiya wheels - also I have found with the Geronimo tyres that the hole is not concentric - the diameters on both sides is not equal. Most people cannot recognize the different patterns so I would use the MFH tyres because it is easier - also the Geronimo tyres are in gray resin not black rubber. As for the Brakes you will need to get the Geronimo "wet" steel brakes because MotoGP does not use Carbon/Carbon brakes in the wet. - Hope that helps you - let me know if you need more advice - John

Where do I buy the front brake discs for wet races cause I can't find them in HLJ.

Do you know anyone who supply Geronimo products or I have to order from Geronimo himself?

not sure, but i think rear tire on suzuki are different fom geronimo and MFH. And the front tire seems the same.

this thread reminds me my first work in edched world.
I use to design decals but one day i decided to do something different.

As an "experiment" it produce a super-low stock. Probably in the future i will create more things, only if i see people like these things

Miguel - do you have copies of those wet brakes you made? Also the wheels on the tire rack stand you have in the last picture did you make those too? Are they resin? or did you just grind down a "box" wheel from a Tamiya kit? Thanks Miguel - great contribution to the thread. - John

With regards to the rear tire being different? That is possible because Bridgestone tires that MFH made were for the "Suzuka" 8hr Suzuki winner 2008 - 2009 - it is possible the picture of the "Rizzla" Suzuki is with a tire of a different year manufactured by Bridgestone.

yes, i have few copies of brake discs, not so many but i want to produce some more in future.

the wheels you see are resin wheels. I have casted some wheels (for yamaha 2011), and some copies have small imperfections. Using a homemade lathe i did what you see.
is an imaginative way to recycle

Do you have any etched part on that wet brake discs? Cause I went to Media Mix Hobby in Singapore but unfortunately they do not have any stocks there.

i produce it for a few friends but i think i will need some more.

im working in some new etched for bikes 1/12, as soon as i have something i will start a new thread.
