So I give to you the Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO DX (Deluxe) - kit review
Hey all,
I couldnīt resist and get this kit, even though I already have the reissue yellow Enthusiast-Version of this kit. When I opened the box I was quite curious, what I would get for my extra money, considering this kit costing 4000 yen. http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ12339?nav=rss Please excuse the quality of the pictures as I couldnīt use my scanner. 1. Fujimi added a PE sheet and metal transfer stickers 2. Fujimi also enhanced the building instructions showing us, where to put certain PE parts The biggest let down of this kit is that Fujimi doesnīt provide you with details where to put all the small stuff and even though they obviously include a PE-front grill there are no explanations how to assemble it. Ok, thatīs it for the moment. Cheers Robert

Re: So I give to you the Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO DX (Deluxe) - kit review
Hi, thanks for the review. But what I really am interested in: are the Fujimi Enthusiast 288 GTO rear hatches hinged? Or do they just lay on the bodywork as in Revells last 288?

i think it's a good bargian...the normal old EM cost me about that too! marc SGP

Re: So I give to you the Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO DX (Deluxe) - kit review
Anyone knows if the Fujimi PE detail set are on par with the Crazy Modeler and KA-Models ones?
As I was preparing myself to buy a couple PE detail sets for these kits. |

The Fujimi PE IS the KA Models PE. Lawrence makes the PE kits for Fujimi now so expect a few more to be released in the future. They already have the 246 but I'm waiting on the 250 GTO with a detail set like he already made for the Revell/Protar kit.

What I paid for the 246 and 288 made it well worth it to come with the KA Models PE. It saved me about $10 getting them separate. I love seeing kits like this.

OK, the package was sent at 8th of July, today it arrived, pretty fast if you ask me
I first looked through the kit and I am absolutely stunned with all the detail, great kit! This will be a joy to build, surely! |

Re: So I give to you the Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO DX (Deluxe) - kit review
Hello,
I'm going to build this awesome Fujimi 1/24 288 GTO model and want to know which paints to buy for engine/apholstry detail. I see a tip to buy the Faux Fabrix textured spray paint but and curious what I'll paint over that with. Thanks for your help! Eric |

I have this exact kit waiting for my skills to improve, thanks for the review
The one thing I have heard is to NOT use the PE louvers/vents as they are a major pain. what do you think? |

While the PE set may have been a welcomed addition to the kit, The louvers that are already molded on the body, deck lid and bonnet are very well done. I would hesitate to cut them off to replace them with PE. All of the other PE parts are great, I'm not sold on the louvers.

Re: So I give to you the Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO DX (Deluxe) - kit review
The big problem with the louvres is that they're shallower than the kit parts. I didn't have any problems just getting them to fit the holes, but if you simply tack the PE plate to the bottom of the engine lid, the louvres only come about halfway up the thickness of the plastic, rather than being flush with the surface. Not a huge problem - you've just got to thin the plastic (and it arguably makes the engine cover closer to scale thickness), but it takes some careful, tedious sanding. Ditto the nose louvres.
I *do* think they look better than the stock parts, in the end. Whether it's worth the hassle though, is up to the individual. |
