AutoTap and 05 LaCrosse

I have an AutoTap OBD II scanner and s/w licence for the advanced GM codes. It works great on a 98 Regal and 99 Silverado, but only will find the Generic Codes on the LaCrosse. Same for my sis-in-law's 05 LaCrosse. It recognizes the VINs on the 98 and 99 but will not on the 05s. Anyone had any luck using an AutoTap on a 05 or later LaCrosse?

Thanks,

Re: AutoTap and 05 LaCrosse

Do you know if the 05 operates with a CAN protocol? If so, more than likely your Auto Tap hardware/software needs to be upgraded to the revised edition that will support CAN. Most of the 2006, and all 2007 cars use CAN, not sure if any started in 05 though.

Re: AutoTap and 05 LaCrosse

Thanks, I think that is the problem. The connector in the LaCrosse has pins for CAN. I spoke with support at AutoTap and was informed that they need to do a software update but do not have a date for it. Tech Support told me to check in a couple of months and if they did not have an update, that they would "make it right."
