oh and screw low compression ratio's... i'm switching my z to direct ignition using no spark plugs and upping the cr to 20:1 and running 50 lbs of boost...

boost cooler system? like water/alcohol injection? maybe...Z1 is selling a kit now. maybe get a custom cell made to put in the hatch and hose it to the engine, therefore i dont have to try to find an extra space in the engine bay to put it.

not physically impossible, race tuned diesels do it all the time... just need the metal bits to hold that sort of pressure..
as for the boost cooler thing i think i saw it on amz, and the site is f'd at the moment...

i think im going to do 3 different nozzles...probably need 2 tanks. a nozzle to spray each intercooler and then a nozzle to spray through my oil cooler. my thinking process for the oil cooler one is this...spray the oil cooler it will go trhough the oil cooler in which my radiator fan will suck the C02 through my ac condensor and then through the radiator. so in a sense i could effectively lower the temp of not only my oil but also my coolant. i was thinking of getting really in depth with it and build a shroud that will connect from my oil cooler to my radiator...so the air has to be pulled through my oil cooler also but using the same fan that my radiator does. or i guess i could just put a very small fan on the back of my oil cooler. we will see...

Re: '86 300zx in need of at least 400hp(stock now)
actually they're technically called charge-air coolers, but whatever...
'boost cooler' is the water/methanol injection kit that injects into your intake tract.... not a bad price and it's a nice security option to have with it installed with a WOT switch...

Ah...interesting. Never heard of C02 being used like that. You could use anything cold, in theory...kinda gets me thinking...

Re: '86 300zx in need of at least 400hp(stock now)
i still like the 2 to 1 comp. ratio but go farther do a 1 to 1 compressoin then you could run like 220 psi boost on pump gas.....
ok well anyway on the noite of lowering compression in doing so and allowing for more space to be occupied by the added air you also add more fuel as a result more force to push the piston down ok increase compressoin so you get 15 to 1 how much hp is that.... probably close to 275hp no boost 275 hp cool ok tajke a 7.3 to one comp. motor and give it like 15 psi of bost what do you get the same 15 to 1 comp. but what hp......prbably closer to 325.,..... hmmmm what to do what to do also dont forget what i had meant by lowering compressoin i said clean up the head as in take off all hi9gh spots and unshroud valve remove some of the plug boss(dont forget to apply enough washers to keep the plug just into the chamber but enough of the mumbo jumbo get an aftermarket turbo, big inj, fuel pump, ignition system, clean up head, and a 150 wet shot of nitrous |

Re: '86 300zx in need of at least 400hp(stock now)
if i wonted to do a engine swap to a 86 300zx (non)
which engine would be the best, with the most hp. and would a z32 twin turbo engine fit in a 86 z31. |

Re: '86 300zx in need of at least 400hp(stock now)
*sigh*
yes it would fit... if you have to ask, no, you can't do it yourself... yes a shop would charge most likely 10k+ to do the swap. a better swap would be a vg30et or turbocharging your engine now depending on the condition of it some other swaps are the rb20det, rb25det, rb26dett, sr20det, random v8, 2jZ... just about anything you can think of really... just gotta antie up the dough...

yep...i still think the best swap for the Z31 is the RB20DET.
now this thread will be closed, it is way old and i think he answered the questions. if anyone would like to further discuss something pertaining to this thread, reference it and start a new thread.
