one cylinder won't fire
I have an 87 suzuki forsa that I just recently bought. Its a 3 cylinder, but is only running on two right now. I put brand new spark plugs, wires, distributor. the plug seems fine, there is plenty of spark in the wire. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Re: one cylinder won't fire
Yes, start with a compression test, that will tell you a lot without really having to take much apart. Your manual should tell you what the compression pressure should be, it is usually listed as a base value or in high mileage engines all the cylinders will need to be within a given amount of PSI in relation to each other.
While the spark plug is out verify that it is the correct spark plug for your engine and that it will produce a spark across its gap if you hold it against the engine block. If the compression is fine and the spark plug is actually firing we are probably looking at a fuel delivery problem. |
