'89 Automatic transmission problem:
I just got my '89 ZX Wednesday, but haven't had time to do anything with it until today. The performance is awesome, but the transmission slipped quite a bit when I tried to take off at normal speed. However, when I kicked it, it quit slipping but shifted rather slugishly into 3rd.
My brother-in-law, who sold me the car, said the tranny was just serviced, but he thinks the mechanic may have over-filled the fluid. My son checked the fluid and said it appeared "clear" instead of red. (?????) Anyone ever heard of clear transmission fluid? And do you think over-filling would cause the slipping and slow shifting? BTW: "I LOVE THIS CAR"!!!! |

no I havent heard of clear tranny fluid.
Yes over filling it will cause slipping. (easy fix drain some off) lastly dont race around with it over filled might blow a line or valve or something like that. |
