Re: 4l60e no 2nd gear

I will post pictures soon. I also luckily ordered the Beast sunshell. The original sunshell was broken at the splines on the rear of it.

Re: 4l60e no 2nd gear

Truck is all back together now. The broken parts were the 2-4 band, the reverse input drum, forward piston cracked and the sunshell splines broken. I just took out for a test drive. It hesitates just a bit from 4th to 3rd downshift. I am keeping a check on the fluid and will post any other updates or problems. Thanks for all the advice.

Re: 4l60e no 2nd gear

Well I had made a mistake in the valve body. I ended up burning up the 3-4 clutches. I replaced them with the zpac clutch pack and now have the truck back together. Everything is great. This has been a great learning experience. I think now I could probably do the job in about 2 1/2 days. Thanks for all the tips. It's nice to know how much money I saved by doing this myself.

Re: 4l60e no 2nd gear

I have the same issue '00 GM Jimmy, 4l60e, and no second gear, shifts to third when let off gas in first, second acts like neutral it will shift into it when shifting down and there's just nothing there, I was hoping just a solenoid, but dudes story a above scares me lol. Every other gear works great absolutely no slipping. Been driving like this for four year 160 miles a day and no other issues have occurred.... opinions please I'd be very grateful to ur time. Hopefully post not too late...

Re: 4l60e no 2nd gear

Hopefully yours is just a solenoid or the 2-4 servo. Either of those is pretty easy fix. Mine is still going strong with over 100k on rebuild.
