Tamiya 1/24 ferrari f50

Hello

This is the latest model I finished this summer, build for nearly one year. The tamiya F50 kit have some issues with the front bonnet shape, so I cut the front bonnet for trim as I start making this kit. Then an idea grows in my mind, why not cut the doors by the way and try my first full open model? And it turn out to be much harder than it appeared on these modeling course books....

The color I want to make is Ferrari's argento nurburging. But the tamiya kit is a launch version Ferrari F50. Build a non red F50 means some parts of the tamiya kits needs to transform into a market version F50's parts. the most tough one is the front radiator cooling fan.

Paint I use is a argento test sample from my friend. I'm satisfied with the fine metallic color. But the Finishers auto clear clear coat I familiar with turns yellow due to my bad storage way.(it sits near my window and takes sunlight from time to time)So the first paint attempt fails and I repainted this model with slow dry GX100 by comparison instead.

Sorry about the rear left suspension deattached while I taking the pics....I find out afterwards, fortunately its a easy fix

I follow your build in Facebook. Absolutely amazing.
Also, your photography setup is superb.

My respects.

Having built this kit in the past, I know how much work went into building this kit to look like it does now. Superb work!

Just out of curiosity, what CF decals did you use? The look great with silver car (though, a bit incorrect for the real car I might add, color-wise), and looks like conform real well.
Also, would love to see the overall shot of the front with the boot opened up.

Looks like the Scale Motorsport template set. I used it for mine and it looks like the same thing. Great job with the build SKUNK.CHAO, one of the best Tamiya F50's I've seen.

thanks alex, I watched your F50 work a lot times during my build for reference. the way you done with the rear mesh shows tones of skills, I tried the method the first time and the whole parts shattered....a friend in japan helped me get some spare parts from tamiya that I can finish the kit

carbon decal I use is from GN model,Chinese local upgrade parts brand. color do lack a bit yelloowish compared to real F50's carbon parts...front cabin is hard to take full pics as the bonnet fitted, I have some pics from the WIP

Re: Tamiya 1/24 ferrari f50

Very cool. Lots of scratchbuilding went into that front end.
I really love the build, one to be proud of for sure.
