AC/Heat help
Hi,
The blower on my ac only seems to work in position 4. I think it happened when I went over a big bump while off-roading. Does anyone know what part I need to change? Is it something that is hard to do yourself? Thanks, Tara

There's a resistor board that controls the fan speed, pretty easy to replace. Part number 27150-2M105, under $20.

Thanks Brent!
I got the part today. Do I need to take the dashboard apart to replace it, or it is something I can get to inside of the engine? Tara

Not sure if you will have to remove the glovebox or not, but either way the blower unit is behind there under the dash. You may be able to get to it from below without removing the glovebox.
If I'm not mistaken it's right downstream of the fan and is inserted into the ductwork in front of it and the fan is what cools the resistors off. Brent |

Thanks Brent, I installed it today and it works fine.
One more question if you don't mind. My belts seem to be squeaking a lot when I start the car. How hard is it to change the belts? Can I get them at any auto parts store (like Autozone)? Thanks, Tara

First you need to be sure it's the belts and not a pulley that is making the noise.
Assuming it is the belts, it's not too hard. Each belt has a tensioner/adjuster, each has 2 bolts. There's a bolt parallel to the belt that is the adjuster, and one perpendicular to it that locks the other down. The alternator belt is adjusted right at the alternator bracket, the other two use the idler pulley to set the tension and move the idler in or out. Loosening them should allow the belts to come right off. However, setting the belt tension/deflection is more precise than most of us can properly measure or set so you might just want to have a dealer handle it. Suffice to say that the belts should deflect less than 1/2" with a 22 lb. force applied to them across the lowest "leg" the belt makes, exact specs are a bit verbose: Code:
old bet limit ideal new belt Alt.: .43" .24-.31" .24-.28" A/C: .71" .47-.51" .413-.453" P/S: .59 .374-.413" .31-.35" |
