'84 Vette - Neeeed HELP on how to check fuel pump

My son has an '84 Vette that he just the other day started after winter's storage and it started right up, ran for 2 minutes and then quit. The engine is not getting any fuel from the tank... because when we put a little gas in the TBI it fires right up. Questions are: 1) where is the fuel pump relay located and can it be specifically identified, 2) is there a fuel regulator and where is it, 3) where is the fuel filter located, 4) and finally where is the fuel pump and what does one have to do to remove and check all the items mentioned. Is there any "easy" way to trouble shoot this baby's problem.... Please help

hey doc

the fuel pump relay can be reset by unhooking the battery for 5 minutes, hooking it back up, then turn the ignition switch on and let it sit for a few 5 minutes. cut switch back off and then turn back on, you should be able to hear the pump running, try cranking the car.
the pump is in the tank, remove gas door, rubber insert, about ten 10mm bolts. not sure about the relay location - good luck.

if you need any parts for that c4, let me know. i have a near complete cross fire motor w/ intake and tb's, lots and lots of other parts; wheels, interior, suspensions, etc.
thanks, dj

Re: '84 Vette- HELP-how to check fuel pump

I had this same problem. The car wouldn't start, except when I put gas in the TBI. I had to replace the relay, which is located under the hood on the drivers side just in front of the battery. I can send you photos of the relay location if you are having trouble finding it. Good luck.

Re: '84 Vette- HELP-how to check fuel pump

you should hear it when you turn the key on
disconnect the fule line and switch the key on
it should flow a qaurt in a few mins.

could be a clogged filter
it is under the car
follow the lines

otherwise the injectors system may be messed up
