Re: Cot
i think they chose this track on purpose so that no one could bitch about the aero aspects. im pretty much in agreement with everything tony stewart has said about it. its ugly, and even further from a stock car than what they run now. the wing is so stupid its incredible. i wish they would have just used a straight spoiler like on the trucks. i cant wait to see how many inspection problems there are, and how many problems there are with the splitters getting messed up.

Re: Cot
we'll see if it prevents boring races or not, ive heard mixed results in that regard, from testing anyway.

Re: Cot
I'm almost willing to bet it's going to cause a even more boring race due to more cautions to pick up all the damn pieces for the front splitter and what remains of what you could call a valance, to say the least of pounched through raditaor debris/leaks.
Imagine, a boring Bristol race |

Re: Cot
^bingo -- I can only guess that they're going to be a million cautions more than there usually are at Bristol -- I can only wonder how many cut tires are gonna happen too since there's really nowhere to go when the track gets littered with "splitter litter"
I agree that they're ugly overall -- the LEGO style press-on-looking wing is also very ugly, even as wings go - the CoT Chevrolet Impala SS certainly will not help sell the production Impala which now looks more like a Camry/Maxima than it ever has. Form follows function -- so I'm interested in seeing what happens... |

Re: Cot
I think he ment the coming out of a turn 'bump and run' ie Matt Kenseth on J. Gordon type scinerio from last eyar. That utilizes more of the entire right front corner, kinda like the pit manuever they teach patrolmen. That may cause a bit of damage

Re: Cot
Nono, Mikey Waltrip did it best a couple of years ago when I forget who, but someone spun him out, so he caught up to them an dsalmmed into their rear end and all you hear on team communications was "damndest thing, the brakes just went out, they're okay now tho". |

Re: Cot
its still doesnt matter, on the front right, the bumper will still hit, not the splitter. if it gets damaged or not depends on how hard they hit, a bump shouldnt hurt it at all.

Re: Cot
The trucks had problems with the splitters too -- not necessarily from contact with other trucks, but from them hitting the track -- Bristol has banking -- and the transition is fairly dramatic, so taking the track at too steep an angle for whatever reason could bust the splitter, possibly causing the driver to run over their own debris -- you know what happens next...

Re: Cot
You know, they've even screwed up Nascar.com now. The format sucks and they're not covering anything like they used too. I wanted to know how inspection went yesterday and they don't have a damn thing on there.
Tehy might as well rename it Stewart/DaleJr.com, I mean I like em both but every otehr damn "article" is about one of the 2. |
