Honda VFR800 Police - Fujimi 1/12
This is my new build - Honda VFR800 Police Bike mady by Fujimi in 1:12 scale. Nice looking model however Fujimi cut many corners while prepared design of the parts. It has many simplifications like tires moulded with the rims, lack of engine details and frame moulded together with the body.
I decided to build it OOB with minor corrections to get maximum effect with minimum mods. Dry fitted to access how much effort is ahead of me: Shock absorber is another story, moulded with a piece of plastic probably to make it stiffer. It will be modified a bit to achieve more real like look. As you can see Fujimi designed model to make our live and painting harder: Using my milling machine inner frame has been modified. Before Milling After Now I can easily put inner frame after glued together frame halves. Next step is to prepare parts for priming. I started with sanding and deeped panel lines together with edges of body parts. Arrows show deeped lines: Body primed with Tamiya White Primer. Next I moved to the shock absorber. I milled exccess of the plastic. Looks imho much better. Hope you enjoy. |

Looks great so far. Nice work with the milling machine on the shock, a big improvement for sure..

Re: Honda VFR800 Police - Fujimi 1/12
Thanks for showing this kit. I saw it on Ebay today and wanted to buy it. But after seeing this I really don't like the model. I mean the vfr is a cool bike but the molded parts are very simplified for such an expensive kit.
Your work look very nice so far. I like the deeped lines, it brings the model to life Kris.

Re: Honda VFR800 Police - Fujimi 1/12
Started with headlight and windshield. I did some sanding...
and it seems that masking lights is going to be a royal pita. Screws are pretty awful so lets get tune them. Before: I prepared my own, litle drill (1.6mm): And after driliing: Primed It will help with a wash and I belive screw heads will be more life like. I will drill shallow holes in them to simulate allen type heads. WHEELS and brakes. As I mentioned rims are moulded with the tires which is a kind of joke in my opinion. Anyway, I started preparing them to look almost like plastic&rubber. Next I engraved line (edge) between rim and tire to make sure that rim edge looks right. I used Trumpeter and and SRC PE line engravers. I also prepared a stencil to drill rear disk as it is in real: Drilled and painted: Modified front brakes callipers: Before: After: Dry fitted with disk and wheel: Painted wheels - rims Semi Gloss Black, tires - custom mix of matt black and german gray: I think that they came out pretty good. Very nice work on the wheels and tyres. If I didn't know, I would never have guessed they were moulded as one. They look excellent..!!

What does it mean "tajemnicze wypełnienie"
Painting of the muffler came out divinely!

Lovely modelling! The wheel/tyre looks great, your doing some really nice work here on a pretty basic kit.

Re: Honda VFR800 Police - Fujimi 1/12
'tajemnicze wypełnienie' is Polish for 'mysterious fulfilment' Nice work on the bike, it's looking great so far. You are making the most of this kit..

I am trying to do my best to make this kit alive and less toyish. I have started painting sessions with Gaia 1K clear. So far so good. I think it will require only a little polishing with the polishing compound. The rest of the body dries and waiting for further treatment. |
