The Doctor project 1/12 Tamiya
These are two kits from Tamiya in scale 1/12, the Yamaha YZR M-1 09' 1/12 and the High speed riding Valentino Rossi figure.
The motorbike kit is perfect but the rider figure is one of the worst Tamiya's kit's I have ever seen. Here are some pictures: (These pic's are crap I know ) The bike needs only cowling's to be painted and mounted: (Some better pic's) The rider figure is still in pieces: That's all for now C&C are welcome

Re: The Doctor project 1/12 Tamiya
Because none of the parts fit, they are really badly molded, and the moldings(spaces where you have to put parts together) are on wrong places, so once you put it together fill it with putty and sand it nearly all details disappear + the rubber parts are a headache to sand and are also badly molded, the only good parts are the two helmets they are in usual Tamiya quality.

Hi,
looks good as far as the model can be seen. Maybe you should use a background in another colour

Re: The Doctor project 1/12 Tamiya
Great work so far, started on my Rossi figure last night, was surprised at the poor (for Tamiya) fit, I guess they are not used to sculpting figures, the helmets as you say are perfect though.
As regards the rider fit, had to chop away at the arm locating pins to get them to line up properly, the chest area was the worst fit part for me, but if you push the centre of the chest in once the sides are glued to the back part then use Tamiya extra thin cement to bond the top part of the chest to the shoulders it looks much better. Some of the join marks coincide with real leather seams, so no big problem there, but some do not ... I'm thinking of adding a wet putty mix and smoothing into the obvious joins then while damp wiping away excess with a damp sponge ... we'll see. Definitely lots of dry test fitting needed on this one and a little plastic surgery too. |
