Need Help Starting Car
Well Yesterday I Changed My Spark Plugs, Wires, And Cap And Rotor, And Fuel Filter, Well I Did Everything Step By Step, I Made Sure I Had The Right Gap On My Plugs, The Wires Were Good, The Firing Order Was Fine, I Used Ac Delco Rapid Fire Plugs , I Installed The New Cap N Rotor And When I Went To Start The Car It Would Not Start, It Sounded Like It Wanted To Start But It Didn't. The Car Is Getting Fuel So What Could Be The Problem?

Re: Need Help Starting Car
Look around the frontend untill you find a bowtie, that would be your problem. But seriously, does it turn over? Was it running right before the change?

If you are sure that the plug wires are correct, that it ran well before the tuneup, and the it is getting fuel then you might of not plugged in the coil power wire/dist. wires in the HEI. You might of also forgot the bushing in the cap. Take plug wire off and clean up old spark plug and put spark plug into new plug wire and hold it against a ground. Make sure you do not smell gas at all and that carb is covered by normal filter cover and what not. Turn engine over and you want to see good spark while turning over. That is what you are aiming for. You can lift up cap off of distributor and look for the bushing that should be sticking out underneath the cap. If there is a whole there you forgot the bushing.
Try those and reply. |

Re: Need Help Starting Car
The Engine Was Running Fine Before The Tunep Up, Well When I Changed The Cap And Rotor, I Just Placed The New One The Same Way The Old One Was Positioned

Did you read, understand, and follow my recommendations? Is the bushing in correctly? Do you have spark? What year/engine do you have?

Re: Need Help Starting Car
go back and make sure you hooked everything back up. this is an elementary question, but did you unhook the battery before you started your service?
