1985 corvette digital dash not working
1985 corvette digital dash.dash is completely out dont know if there is a power problem or not.i just bought the dash rebuilt.the old dash would not light up either.how do i troubleshoot the power to the dash and does any one have an electrical schematic that covers that part of vehicle.the car will start and run just fine with dash out.all fuses are good.

Been there:
Check the power on the dimmer circuit (brown wire), and for power on the pink/black and red wires with the ignition on.

Most of the time it is a ground problem, either the car, or most likely, in the dash itself. I am still working on mine, and have done a lot of research and fact finding, book buying etc. The best advice is to go to batee.com and click on projects, then scroll down to the digital dash repair. Bryan Thompson has complete instructions, with pictures, to repair the dash. I am going into mine right away. By the way, do the signal light indicator and bright light indicator light up while the dash is not on? This also indicates a bad ground. I hope this will help.
I was also informed that almost always, it is a failure of the ground somewhere in the dash or bad solders, and Bryan describes in his article, which he advises you to print out and use or take it to someone else, if you don't think you can do it. Best of all, this is absolutely free! |
