1997–2002 models - are they much different in USA

I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if I am asking at wrong place. It's just that the European location forum seems to be deserted. No posts in last few years.

I want to buy Honda Accord 1997–2002. Preferably 2000-2002 because someone told me that they have better diesels.

Are American models much different than European?
If not, then what should I pay attention to when going for a test drive?

Do you know good websites for Honda Accord owners?
