Question how do i tell it's a lsd transmission?

i pop my motor about a week and a half ago and i took it to this performance shop to get a jdm h22 engine.at first i wanted the type-s but he said it is very hard to get and not worth the money so he said for $5000.00 he could do the job that means he will get a lsd tranny, convert my car to obd-1 port and polish the head, new timeing belt, and replace clutch if worn.
what i want to know is how to tell if the transmission is really lsd?
do i drive it in a certin way?
do it say lsd on the transmission?
also i never seen a jdm motor befor i just want it because everyone says that if am going to mod my car that would be the best swap.
so how does a jdm motor look?
is it any differnt from the engins in the preludes in the US?
how do i know it's a real jdm motor?

LSD's are not transmissions as a whole. They are differentials. You should be able to feel it when you drive. You wont be able to see it from the outside. As the JDM motor goes, you should be able to check the name plate on the engine. Someone elseo n this forum probably knows better than I about that.

if you take your axles out, and look through one side of the opening to the other, if its straight through with nothing in the way, its lsd, but if theres a bar going through it about halfway through, its non-lsd

good post!

Glad I found this thread. I am getting a B18C1 and going to pay the extra $300 for the LSD. Now, when doing the install I'll be able to look and know if I got LSD or screwed :alien:

I have a jdm h22a motor but not a type S motor. Too expensive. I bought my motor for $2,600 complete swap shipped and that you can get at that price a lot. But if you going to spend $5,000 for type S motor to get 20HP and 10tq more... thats ridiculous.. you can put $2500 worth of mods on the H22a after you purchase the motor and whoop the Type S motor. Hmm....Say you can get a turbo kit for about that much.... plus the H22a 93-96 are closed deck motors so they can hold a hella more boost then 96+ motors... just my .02

engine block code for the jdm h22's do not have a number ending off the code like usdm motors.... so it would just say h22a and thats all

just do a burnout in an empty parking lot or something......then go back.....check to see how many tire marks you see........if you see one.....then it does NOT have LSD equipped. If you see TWO tire marks.....then you DO have LSD..... have fun

it is a lsd!!

well me and the Installer checked together and it is a lsd tranny. when he put the motor in and the axles we spun the wheels to see if they would go in the same driection and they did.he said that i got lucky because the person who had the motor must of done something because they usually don't come with a lsd. anyway i ordered a stage 3 clutch and a set of aem cam gears for now.i was going turbo but am going N/A instead. thanks for the info guys it was really helpful.
