ML 320 ' 98 model - code P1570

Hi! I am retreiving code P1570 from the scan, Fault in DAS to engine control module. Vehicle is cranking over, then cuts off. All the remote keys are working. I have also cleared the trouble code and synchronized the key, but yet no result. Does the DAS module require replacement. Any further tests are required? Kindly post any info, would highly appreciate!! Thanks so much....Manoj

Re: ML 320 ' 98 model - code P1570

Hi! Yes this problem was solved. Firstly code P1570 states a failure in communication between DAS and engine control module.
Firstly make sure you synchronize the keys (this procedure is in the owner's manual), and all of them are operational.
After this, confirm that DAS has authorized start on the key you are using. Follow this procedure:
Between the foglight and low range switches there is a small LED. I think it blinks on and off when the truck is locked. If you unlock the truck and get in and just turn the key to "on" (just before "crank" position, you should see a very short blink of that LED, that means DAS is authorized is start. You can check your valet key, and remote keys this way. If you do not see the short blink, it's most likely a key problem. At the same time it's not likely that all your keys will be bad at the same time, but check them all.
If the above checks out and your engine still does not crank, and run, or runs, and dies, then it's time to check for fuel pressure. Keep in mind that if you have a bad crankshaft sensor, you will not have any fuel pressure.
Check fuel pressure, and then if you have none while cranking, jump the fuel pump relay. If you have pressure then, you have a bad crank sensor. If no pressure, a bad pump.
In my case I had no fuel pressure, ended up being a bad crankshaft sensor. Replaced it, and the truck fired right up, and ran smooth.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Manoj
