Question Oil leak 91 Cressida

Help.. My 91 Cressida with 175K mi. just developed an oil leak. Leaks about a qt per week. Leak appears to be coming from two locations but it could be from the same source. oil appears to be coming from somewhere under the distributor (appears to be above the head and close to the exhaust manifold). Just replaced valve cover gaskets so that is not the problem. Also, quite a bit of oil drips from the weep hole in the bottom the timing belt cover. There is signs of oil inside the timing belt cover but it appears to be coming from the top left (possibility a leaky cam seal). Initially thought front main may be leaking but now I am sure. After all I have read about the head gasket, could this be related to a blown head gasket? No other signs of BHG, engines runs as good as the day i drove it off the showroom floor. No cooling issues, no white smoke. Had a mechanic run a compression test on all cylinders and all specat the top end of the scale for the 7MGE. This car has never been in he shop except for normal maintenance (lucky me). Obviously, I don't want to replace the front seals if the problem is a BHG. Likewise I don't want to replace the HG if the problem is just a leakly seal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Oil leak 91 Cressida

I had to replace my distributor. It was leaking oil.
I know have a leak out of one bolt on the valve cover. Any ideas?

Re: Oil leak 91 Cressida

I have the same problem with my Cressida.
Oil has just since colder weather started leaking badly in the same place.
I have heard that it may be the cam seals also.

Cam seals are easy to replace set it on top dead center with the cams lined up. Remove the timing belt mark the cam pulleys and install new seals.
You should be able to do this in a mornings time. If you pull the dist. mark the rotor where it meets the dist. with white out. It may only have a bad o-ring you could get at the hardware.
