Check engine light issue
Hi,
Few days back, dashboard check engine light of my car came up while I was driving. But next time I started the car, the light didn't come up. Until today nothing abnormal happened. But today, the light came up several times. When I stop the car and start again, the light goes away. But after some time driving, It comes up again. Also, today once I stopped the car and next time when I tried to start it again, car didn't get switched on when I turned the key. Car didn't even try to start and it looked like completely dead. When I tried several times, I could start the car. When car started, I noticed that the time shown in the dashboard has been reset. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my car? (My car model is Toyota Vitz 2007) Thanks in advance. Last edited by lahiruchandima; 04-05-2014 at 10:22 AM. |

Re: Check engine light issue
Without any pertinent info as to type of car, model, engine, year, etc I'd say to check your battery cables and connections on both ends.

Re: Check engine light issue
Do you have a way to get the diagnostic codes read? I'm not sure if OBD-II is the standard everywhere in the world, but since the check engine light has come on, there should be a stored code, even if the light is not on at the moment you have the codes read.
