89 Camaro no fuel pressure...

SO I just got the VATS key figured out and she now cranks, but I have no fuel pressure at the rail. From what I can find, it looks like the fuel relay is one of the three on the firewall, driver's side, with orange, red, black/white, dark green/white and tan/white wires. Is this correct?

I want to check the fuel pump, preferably without dropping the tank...I already looked into that...doesn't look like a good time. Will putting 12v to the tan/white wire kick the fuel pump on, assuming it is good?

I appreciate any and all help, the Camaro is new and unfamiliar to me.

Should be a fuel pump primer lead- a red wire with a plug on it emerging out near the relay- most cars of that era have them- to do exactly what you want to do- to energize the fuel pump. Look for it to be taped to the plastic conduit if it has never been used.

Check the fuse near the battery.

Test for power at the relay.

You can also apply a 12V supply to the ALDL connector, terminal "G"

Re: 89 Camaro no fuel pressure...

Couple of things to try first......

Get a can of carb cleaner......while someone cranks the car over, spray carb cleaner into the intake.....if the car starts and runs as long as you spray, then we know it's a fuel delivery problem....

I would disconnect the harness at the fuel tank, and attach a test light to the fuel pump circuit(Harness half not attached to tank), tan/white terminal C and black terminal A.......

Turn key to on.....light will come on for two seconds and go out....now crank vehicle and the light should be on steady......if this is the case, and you have now pressure at the rail, make sure you have fuel in tank(gage could be wrong)...If you have plenty of fuel, and the test light, lights, you need a fuel pump......the fuel sock and fuel filter should be replaced also....

If the test light does not light, then the power and ground circuits back to the relay have to be checked out....there is an inline 20 amp fuse that feeds the fuel pump.....
