2.0(CVH) Escort engine-2.0SPI(CVH) Focus engine compatibility/swap/interchange?
Ok. I've scoured the internet but havent found a straight answer yet. I have an 01 Focus SPI and the valve seat dropped. I havent had much luck finding a reasonably priced replacement focus SPI motor, BUT I paid $130 bucks for a running Escort SPI. Looks like the intake, exhaust manifolds, timing cover, all brackets and accessories, and spark plugs are different. So, my question is, are the block and head the same? I was hoping I could pull out the focus motor, swap all the manifolds and accessories and install the escort SPI 2 liter with all the focus parts on it. Any 100% sure answers would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2.0(CVH) Escort engine-2.0SPI(CVH) Focus engine compatibility/swap/interchange?
Not sure what the CVH designation is all about? It sounds like one engine is the DOHC 4 valves per cylinder 2.0 and the other is the 2.0 Split Port Induction which has a SOHC and 2 valves per cylinder. If this is the case they are not interchangeable. They aren't even close. The block and the head could not be swapped. A sure way to tell if they are the same engine is to check the VIN on the dash. The 2.0 SPI has a fifth digit letter P. If both Vins have the 5th digit letter P the engines are 2.0 SPI SOHC and should be able to be switched. From your description you have 2 very different engines and they won't interchange on the block and head.

No, they are both SOHC 2.0L SPI "(Split Port Induction) engines. CVH is the name designation used by engineering during development. CVH stands for :Compound Valve angle Hemispherical combustion chamber
The heads will directly swap and bolt up to either block, HOWEVER, I found out however that there are subtle differences ie: bolt pattern and diameter of bolts for intake manifolds, bolt pattern for engine mount, etc. I'll post more specifics later
