You mean here? I'm pretty sure they put new hardware from Panoz on.... it's got a rubber hanger like it did before. Were you looknig at the picture above it where the hanger is cutoff? I could see how that might look fixed. Please elaborate if I'm missing something.

Brian,

Yes the photo makes it look like it is solid to the frame. The hanger is not visable. However I still have a problem with that style hanger. I broke the same hanger two weeks ago. That hanger is designed to hang exaust at the rear of a car where the exhaust doesn't move. You need an hanger that can flex up and down. I used an o-ring style hanger that can flex about 1.5 inch up and down.

That is a good idea as the motor wants to rotate with torque and lifts the exhaust on one side and pushs down on the other. Got a photo and a source for the part?

Duke,

Parts sourse would be your local exhaust shop. Just ask to see there selection of hangers. The oring style I used are 1/2 in wide by 2 in OD. I used two on each side. You will also need four J hooks two per side. Weld one hook on the exhaust pipe facing up and the other to the frame facing down. The oring act like a shock between the two J hooks.

David could you shoot a picture of your setup when you have the time? I think I'm just going to run the car as is and monitor it. I'll most likely pull the side pipes this winter to install more substantial mufflers.

my car has a flex splice on the driver side to help with flex (looks like braded wire-about 1/2" thicker than the tube. Just a head of the hanger... also put bolts in the motor-mount (as per earlier post) thanks for the tip..bill

Re: Panoz goes to Performance Autosport for some go fast stuff...

All the talk about the tail pipes makes me want to chim in. I thought about getting some headers but could not justify spending a minimum of $500.00 sow we have came up with the idea of leaving the stock manifolds which are not all that bad and up size the pipes to 3" dia and see what that adds if anything when we go back to the dyno. Has anyone tried this?

Can you elaborate on "bolts in the motor mount"? I've had zero issues w/ the mounts so far. Mine look fresh and new. They're just rubber blocks.

As intimated above Brian, just drill a pair of holes through each side of the mounts and put 5/16" bolts clean through them. These act as torque stops and prevent the mounts from pulling apart and tearing. I have done this to my mounts and they are fine. You immediately notice that the engine does not torque up by the 1" or more that it does prior to the mod. This also helps to keep the cold air system sealed to the underside of the hood under full throttle load. Cheapest way to sort the problem!

PICTURES! What do you consider the side of the mount?

I thought the fexible mounts where used for a reason?????

why not just switch to the solid mounts?

we dont have the cold air system? Havent come up as something to buy yet :-)

Brian, will take a couple of pics in the next day or so. The beauty of doing this mod is that the mounts are still able to move but will not stretch under torque load. I guess this solution sits between std rubber mounts and going to solid mounts but retains the benefits of rubber without the negatives of solids (vibrations causing frame cracking).

We found the cold air system worth a few mph. Definitely affected jetting and rpm so all good.
