I don't really know if Fiat owns Ferrari but all I know is that Ferrari is it's own ownership and not owned by another Automobile company like Audi owning Lamborghini.

Re: fiat owned??
Fiat has the majority of stocks in Ferrari. A very small part is in hands of Luca di Montezemelo and Piero Ferrari has also some.
Fiat has been the largest stockholder since the late 60s. That doesn't mean that Fiat has anything to say about the company policy of Ferrari. Ferrari, on the other hand, is also owner of Maserati.

I found this
I don't know how factual it is. For years its been my understanding that Fiat is the large share holder of Ferrari. But does not really have a hand in the way Ferrari is run. Or rather a very small hand. And here's this from the ferrari owners club website. http://www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/h...at_shares.html

Re: fiat owned??
That's a pretty old article. If memory serves Fiat offloaded around 35% of Ferrari recently to Italian banks and creditors. If it still has a majority shareholding, which im pretty sure it does, it must play a significant role in how the company is run. I think Jimster's the man to ask about this. Over to you Jimmy

Re: fiat owned??
To date, the Ferrari family (predominantly Enzos son) has 10% Commerzebank AG has another 10% and Mediobank 15%
the Lehman brothers have about 6.9% FIAT Group, as far as I know have 65% BUT in 2002 said they would float some Ferrari shares, I don't know if they went through with it, details are very sketchy, either way, FIAT do NOT have any say in the Ferrari development process FIAT SpA and Ferrari SpA are completely different entities. FIAT Group are the shareholders in the companies.
