Smile Poll: Renting a Fun Manual Car in the States

Fellow car enthusiasts! I have a question for you!

When you go on to a vacation destination in the US (eg: Southern California, a Florida coastline, Rocky Mountains) and have to get a rental car, will you be willing to:
  • Pay 25%-35% more to rent a fun manual car (eg: Miata, S2000, Mini Cooper, Mustang GT as a higher end example) versus comparable-in-price automatic appliances in the Enterprise and Hertz lots?
  • Rent if the rental lot is a reasonable distance (15 min) outside the airport (given free shuttle service to the lot)?

Any and all answers and feedback are highly appreciated!!

If im on vacation and have the money, then im cool with paying a little more for a more fun car if im gonna have to be driving around anyway. And any car rental service worth a dam is gonna have a shuttle anyway!

Most rental agencies in the U.S. do not rent cars with manuals. When they do, you pay outrageous rates for that privilege. People will beat the ever loving snot out of them if you can find an agency that rents them.

The automatics in the near luxury segment would be good enough for me. Just rent a really nice car. Why do you have to have a manual transmission?

Go to one of the driving schools for a vacation (Bob Bondurant for example) if you have to beat on a car.

Rent a Cabrio in Dubai

Having met in Dubai??? And if you think to rent a cabrio??? In this case We advise booking a cabriolet in Emirates in advance (several weeks or even several months prior to your trip), since the availability of convertibles in our car park is quite limited: http://cargetsrent.com/en/p5_rates_rent/t7_cabrio

If you're single or traveling alone, renting a manual might be OK. Those of us with wives or girlfriends would probably have ZERO interest.

I would spend a little extra for something sporty with a stick shift and a respectable engine, but most importantly, whatever I did rent would have the most important performance upgrade available: Full insurance coverage and a thick stack of extra claim forms, which would of course, make it the true fastest car in the world.
