Stalls during & after going up hill...
wonder if anyone can give me a diagnosis on this -
1991 park ave - 250k miles (what is normal for this age?) will intermittently try to stall after going up hill. My gut feeling is that its fuel related - but I guess it could be electrical. Anyone git any pointers? |

Well, with 250K, and no history, best guess at this time is a worn engine....

Re: Stalls during & after going up hill...
Wait - What? There are hills in Nebraska? I haven't seen any.
At what speeds does this occur? This is not uncommon with the Buick 231 V-6 at cruise speed in OD and lockup with a weak ignition system. Since it is a '91 there may not be any malfunction lamp indicating a problem, but there may still be a problem. Work spark plugs/wide gaps, weak ignition coils, failing plug wires, and poor ICM connections can contribute to this. Low fuel pressure or streaming injectors can also cause this, as well as various other factors, but the easiest and often overlooked items are the ignition parts. If it hasn't had clean, properly gapped plugs and good wires in the last 50,000 miles it may be time to check that out.

ok - that makes a bit more sense. I'm beginning to think it could be an ignition situation because after switching everything off. taking the keys out and then restarting - it fires up. It really does not seem to be the fuel pump.
