Battery & Alternator Problem

We have a 1998 Silverado. Hubby & son put a brand new alternator in. They charged the battery all night. Then when hubby put battery in it said it was 19 amps. What is the problem?? Thanks in advance!

Re: Battery & Alternator Problem

19amps on the idiot gauge? Did he use a voltmeter? Or did he mean to say 19 volts? How old is your battery?
And why was the alternator changed out(symptoms)?
