Kadett GSi

Hi all.

I'm Brazilian and I have a Kadett GSi. I noticed in Germany the GSi has a 16v head and in one of its versions it outputs 168hp. Pretty sweet. In Brazil we only have a SOHC head with 2valves/cyl. I wonder how much it costs in Deutsche Mark to buy a complete 16v head for my kadett. Anyone ?

They don't have Deutsche Mark, now they use Euro(€). I can tell you the car cost 3000 €. Not head but car!

Re: Kadett GSi

Well, there's the Kadett GSI 2.0 and the Kadett GSI 2.0 16V. The first one puts out 115 hp and the 16V puts out 150 hp. You won't find a bone stock GSI 16V here in Germany, they all are rusty or tuned badly.

There were so many Kadett E GSi's built, that you can find a few good ones. But I think it's very hard to find a GSi which is bone stock.

But if you are only lookin for a motor or for parts of it, you'll find a lot here. The 115hp 8v (C20NE) and the 150hp 16v (C20XE) were also used in the Calibra, the Vectra and later in the Astra GSi (I guess only the C20XE).

Also it's no big Problem to swap the 16v Motor into a 8v GSi.

the only difference between them is the head and the transmission everything else-mounting points etc- is the same even the turbo model from the calibra and vectra will fit without any modifications.
There are enough gsi's here in belgium were only the engine is in good condition

BUT, there is a 16v version of the Vectra, called the Vectra 2000. (It also has the same AWD setup as the 4x4 Calibra.
And putting the 16v Turbo motor in a Kadett isn't too much trouble. Neither is the C20XE I'm not so sure about the AWD setup, but the motors will work just fine.

The Vectra 2000 is FWD but a great car. I used to have a Vectra A 1.8, nice car. But the Vectra A models are quite rusty Now I have a Vectra B 2.0 16V with 136HP.
