I don't like the part about MS, I work with it too and tolerate it but I would really prefer to have other options, unfortunately most software works only with it and some companies just don't like the idea to switch to a new software platform. Anyway you gotta do what you gotta do...

Military and training? You work as a contractor or a gov. employee?

Oscar, I work for one of the world's largest defense contractors. All I can say is it starts with a "R". Full time exempt annual salaried employee/supervisory with all company benefits. 5 more years and I am retiring. Also, I served in the U.S. Army and Vietnam Era Vet.

Really? There is a bunch of us in the El Paso TX area. Add to that Gulf War 1 and 2 and Afghanistan Vets. Also add Bosnia. BTW - My oldest son is deploying to Afghanistan this October. Not a good situation over there especially for parents and family members. Place is still too "hot" with the Insurgency/Taliban with no end in sight.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

Vietnam Vets have always had a special place in my heart. They got shafted when they returned, and are the basis of my no-tolerance policy involving any protest directed at individual soldiers. You can protest the war/conflict, but don't you DARE go after a soldier in my presence.

Bob, I salute you as a true hero my friend!!!

A friend of mine and I escorted the truck that hauls the moving Vietnam Vet Memorial Wall on our motorcycles when it came to Flint, MI, and it was an honor and humbling experience to do so. We even happened to get on the news as they filmed us coming in. As I went by the camera, I pulled in the clutch and gave my Fatboy a bit of throttle. The news anchor commented "well, looks like that guy believes loud pipes save lives"......WIN!!!!!

Hahaha, why not? There should be loud pipes competitions instead of weapons

My dad was sent to work in San Antonio, TX during the '92 and '93 so we spent some time living there, but since I was only 5 y/o I was too young to actually remember much about over there, I can only remember traveling to Houston, McAllen, Laredo and some of the places we visited like Sea World!!! and the Natural Bridge Caverns .

Thanks Rich. All Veterans need the support of the American people. I wish I could pass on some of the horror stories coming out of Afghanistan by soldiers returning from there. Many on more than one rotation. The stories/heroic acts will bring tears to your eyes. Most of the Units we trained the past several months are deploying there. But no one really knows if it is a war that can be won or whether the region will ever stabilize.

On Libya I support the troops but not the war itself. Bad decision to get involved there. We have enough going on with Iraq and Afghanistan and this country is well over extended.

Can't say that we are overextended. My buddy was telling me that the Navy alone is overstaffed. They are trying to get rid of servicemen.

What I meant by overextended is fighting 3 wars and killing the Federal budget. On insurgency type wars on the ground (inland) not sea the Navy doesn't do much anyways. Its Army, Marines and Air Force. My second son in the Air Force has been in and out of both Iraq and Afghanistan over a dozen times. He has 5 years time in service. For example the Army can't meet it recruiting goals which explains why the troops are having to go back to the war zone repeatedly even after doing 12-15 months tour of duty.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

I agree bob, we should stay out of Libya. Let the other members of the UN do their part in at least one of these hot spots for once. Trying to fight on 3 fronts is way too much. Afganistan is a no-win situation. They kidnap children and brainwash them with propaganda that makes us look like the bad guys. You can't win on their turf when they are willing to die in a suicide bomb run while we have to follow Geneva convention "rules of engagement".
