94 sable gs good idea?
theres a 94 sabel for sale 100,500 miles, but has obvious signs of needing a new tranny, the seller says when you stop and thne go you have to be real easy on the gas to get it going if you gas it to much you will make a sound or jerk , shes asking 500, does anyone know if thats what the problem could be, and if this would be a smart purchase, thank you, brandon

replacing the trans will cost you about $1500, I would only pay $500 if the interior is in really good condition. Gen 2 Tauri with a junk transmission are a dime a dozen.

What engine does it have? If it's the 3.8 try to find out if the head gaskets have been replaced, if not they soon will blow, another $1000.
As far as the tranny it sounds like you might be lucky to make it home with it You might be able to find a used tranny at a junk yard a lot cheaper, but there is no guarantee how long it might last. |
