Talking power seat repair

I've got a '94 Vision TSI with a power driver seat issue. I can't get the seat to move forward easily. I press the button and the motor whirrs but only get sporadic movement forward if no one sits in the seat and no movement at all if someone is sitting on the seat. The reverse function (as well as the others) work fine. I'm assuming that something is stripped in the motor/gear assembly. I called several dealers looking for replacement parts but was told that the power motor assembly is sold with the seat as one unit sooooo.....I'm looking at $500 for an entire assembly and that's not an option. I've called around to several u-pull-it yards but no one has an Eagle/Intrepid/Concorde I can pull anything from. Is there a way to repair the motor/gear assembly or does anyone have another option I haven't visited?

Thanks!
Eric

Re: power seat repair

there was a recall on some of these cars, for something to do with the power seat, if I were you, i'd bring it to a dealer, and have them take care of the recall, if you haven't done that yet, then go from there, but it's always worth a try to see if that fixes anything

Unhappy 1994 Concorde

I have a '94 Concorde with the same power seat problem. Has anyone found a way to repair the gear-drive or a 'cheap' replacement?
Thanks!

I do believe there is an open recall on the power seats. Along with the fuel rail O-rings on the 3.5 liter. I'd call the dealer and check it out...
