1999 K3500 7.4 model ls crewcab running rough.
My wife was driving the truck home the other day and out of the blue it started running rough popping and back firing and lost power. It had a major tune up about 40,000 miles ago. It sometimes has a hard time cranking to start, but once it starts it idles really rough and pops and smells like it is running rich. Any ideas I thought the distributor cap but it looks fine, could it be a sensor?

If it's running that bad, there should be some DTC's show up on a code scanner. Is the Service Engine light on? Does it come on with the key in the Run position and engine off?
Any number of sensors could cause this issue. MAP, MAF, CKP, CMP, O2, ETC. Most of these sensors are $$. A good repair shop can scan for codes and suggest needed repairs.

Light does come on when I turn the key into run position then goes out when I start it. There is no light once it is running which is confusing. I have a buddy of mine is going to scan it Wednesday evening to maybe pin point the issue. I told him how it was running and he said maybe an injector.
