well . . . I should say that the driver intended for others to think they were seeing a Delorean . . .

I say that because, although visually the car looked correct, it was PAINTED . . . red no less.

That didn't seem right to me . . . I figured anybody with interest enough to want to own a Delorean would have the sense to know it's something special in it's natural state, or would at least have the respect to try to keep it in it's natural state. I dunno . . .

I figured it was probably a kit . . . either way, it's a disgrace, if you ask me . . .

Actually, I've heard of people painting them before. My fiance' knew a guy with a yellow one. He also had a steel one, too.

Thumbs down

S2000,

Didn't it look real funny though? Something about the shape, design of the car makes it look a little overwhelming when you add color to it . . .

Some people just have no respect . . .

WO! A painted Delorean!? Next time you get a chance take a picture and post it in the funny pages

What was the driver thinking?!

Got a friend who is a big time Delorean lover, if I recall correctly he has gone through 3 and is restoring his 4 one now. Limited edition model with a turbo. We have to pick on him cuz it came with an automatic but his soon to be wife likes it

I know another guy at work who drove his Delreans passenger door into the side of his garage with the door open

Took him forver to replace it. At least that was an accident, painting it requires you to turn your brain off.

Stupid stupid stupid

IMO, they actually don't look bad painted. I wouldn't do it just because it's such a rare and classic car in just steel, but color can really bring out the lines. I guess the factory originally planned on painting some, if not all. Apparently about 1000 or so of the '81s were painted from the factory. There is a white one for sale in one of my duPont Registry's. They also made 3 (4?) 24K gold plated ones.

DONT PAINT DELOREANS!!!

If you paint it, then the flux capacitor wont be able to efficiently distribute the 1.21 gigawatts throughout the stainless steel body, rendering the DeLorean incapable of time travel!!!!

I have seen three over the past two weeks, all steel. My sister was dating a guy that had one....he went to a drive-thru and couldn't reach up to the window to get his burger, so he opened the door It hit the brick, but didn't scratch it too bad. All I can stay is stupid, stupid, stupid...

Ooo...that makes me cringe no matter what car it is...I hate it when they get hurt.

That's one problem with the gullwing doors, though. With the way the bottom of the door is shaped and it's size, you cannot make the entire window go down, so only a very small section opens, similar to a Countach or Subaru SVX.
