Headlights flicker automatically 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo

1999 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo. Driving at night I notice that the headlights flicker off, then back on every 30 seconds or so. Very quick .... Like a blink. If you are not paying attention, you may not even notice as they never go out completely. It's very annoying though! To me it's either some sensor that's flaky or maybe something as powerful as a seat heater popping on because it puts a quick drag on the electrical system. Seats aren't on though. So I'm not sure. Anyone with experience with this one? Thanks in advance.

i don't know if this will help at not, but mine does something similar. Are you driving somewhere with a lot of street lights? this might be fooling the sensor. I know that driving in Dim conditions driving under overpasses during the day causes mine to flicker on and off too.

Re: Headlights flicker automatically 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo

Thanks for the ideas. Interesting experience you have.

I didn't take notice of influence from other lighting (like street lights or reflections from road signs). I'll check into that. I was driving on the highway when I noticed it. In fact it was very early in the am with limited traffic. One thing I did notice was that immediately after it happens I can see the temp guage of the engine rise slightly each time. Not sure if that's related at all or if its just a coincidence.
